Lisanum: the Friday sermon translated live – free for mosques

Since May the Friday sermon in our mosque has been translated live and shown on the screens in the prayer hall. The application behind it used to be called MinbarLive – its new name is Lisanum, after “Lisan al-Ummah”, the tongue of the community.

It is available to other mosques free of charge – no licence fee, no subscription, no advertising. Fī sabīlillāh, for the sake of Allah.

What Lisanum offers:

While the imam speaks, the translation appears sentence by sentence – in up to five languages at once, chosen from 27.
When the imam recites a verse of the Qur'an, Lisanum recognises it and shows it with surah and ayah – together with a recognised Sunni translation instead of a machine translation.
When he quotes a hadith, Lisanum names the collection and number – from more than 62,000 narrations in eight collections.
Any television with a web browser on the mosque network becomes a display. On their phones, the congregation follow along through the mosque's own website, with no app to install; only text is transmitted.
Lisanum runs on a Windows PC or on an Android phone.

The live translation is machine-generated (AI). It is an aid to understanding; errors are possible. What counts is what the imam says.

Interested mosques can write to info@lisanum.com – please give the name and town of the mosque and a contact person. Everything else, including the list of the 27 languages, is on lisanum.com.
